 Soroptimist Program Awards

Live Your Dream Education & Training Awards Program

The Live Your Dream (LYD) Education & Training Awards Program is Soroptimists’ “signature” program.

It is intended to assist disadvantaged women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. There are no restrictions on the use of the funds which may be used for any financial requirements our winner has.

Please note the deadline on Soroptimist’s LYD Award website is different than the local club. Local club deadline date will prevail for 2017-2018 award year.

SI York Region will honour all applications submitted by January 15, 2018 to: liveyourdreamsiyr@gmail.com

  1. Review the Eligibility Requirements (outlined below). Do you qualify?
  2. Live Your Dream Application Form
  3. Live Your Dream Reference Form – Applicants submit 2 references with your application
  4. Submit your application and any questions by Jan. 15, 2018 to: liveyourdreamsiyr@gmail.com

Each year, more than $1.5 million is disbursed through cash awards at various levels of the organization. SI York Region currently gifts two recipients with $1000 to support their on-going education.

Local-level award recipients will then become eligible for region-level awards of either $3,000 or $5,000.

Region-level award recipients then become eligible to receive one of three international-level awards of $10,000.

Many recipients have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, domestic violence, and drug and alcohol abuse.

The awards may be used to offset any costs associated with efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare and transportation.

In addition to providing the primary financial support for their families, eligible applicants must be enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program and must demonstrate financial need. Also, please note only residents of Soroptimist International of the Americas’ member countries and territories are eligible to apply for the educational grants.
